I had heard that a pro had developed a spinner that was made of wire instead of mono, because the spinner would spin more efficiently. Where can I find these things?? Thanks!
Gee that pro must have been around for a long time! Wire shaft spinners are nothing new and were around long before mono was invented. If you check Cabela's or Jann's Netcraft etc. you will find wire formers etc. for making your own spinners. The formers that look like a small C-clamp are inexpensive and will turn out excellent quality spinners with very little practice. C. Boyd Pfeifer had an good book, "Tackle Craft", which covered making your own crankbaits, spinners etc. The book may no longer be available but there are others you can get. Jann's offers at least one. I still use the wire shaft spinners. Check out a similar post at winnebagowalleyes for more info. Getting kids involved in making their own lures, and then having them catch fish on those lures is a ball for you and them!

I believe they are called Blue Fox Spinners, Norb Wallack helped develope this bait. He has been using them for several years and credited them for his PWT win at Saginaw Bay last year.

I think what Rookie is asking about is a spinner/harness that has been made up for trolling the deeper eastern basin of Erie at higher speeds than the mono leaders are efficient at. I'm looking for them also and will be checking out some bait shops in the Fairport Harbor area tomorrow. I know ETT has mentioned these in the past. How about some help here Jim?
