Spent the weekend targeting musky's and smallies on Lake St. Clair - needed a break from the 'eyes so went after some "easy" fish. Anyway, the FLW is in town for their big tourney this week. Man, we thought our boats were gawdy with the stickers, NPAA #'s, etc. You haven't seen a gawdy boat until you've seen a Ranger painted like a tub of Land 'O Lakes butter or a box of Fuji Film.

So how did you do on the muskies? we ended up with four saturday, fished between Stoney pointe and the Thames. Its fun fishing for something different once in a while, especially when they pull like that. By the way, fished Sunday just off the Trenton channel where it enters Erie, 90 minutes for the boat, some decent sized fish too(I just couldnt stay away for long).

We went 0/1 Saturday morning fishing the exact same stretch - we were in a 24ft Lund Sportcabin. Just couldn't seem to get em going. Obviously we cancelled the Erieau trip (based upon some hot musky reports from Friday night). I bet they slammed the steelies at Erieau.

We did get about 30 smallies Sunday - one pushing five pounds. Limited to the American side due to the high morning winds.

I have been heading for muskies with a couple guys that know there stuff. They dont head out until minimum 10:30, sun hot and overhead. They say its a waste of time and fuel heading out any earlier.
