I noticed that some people posted notes that they had people return things because they were posted here. I thought I would give it a shot any way.

I was fishing at Enemy Swim in early May this year and the weather was terrible. Windy, cold and rainy. I had a mishap on the North side of the lake across from the public access when my motor would not start. I ended up against the shore and had a Abu-Garcia reel and a rod flip out on that shoreline. LOST.

Later after getting the motor started, I went back to the landing and pulled my boat up on shore. I threw my anchor up onto the shore and tied off. It was mucky so I decided to load the boat, then go back and get it. Guess what, I left it!

If anyone got the anchor or found a rod and reel, let me know. Thanks

I don't know what public landing you were at, but there's a resort on the south side of the lake called Bur Oak Lodge. Their phone number is 800-947-3858, give them a call and find out if they know anything about your anchor situation. These are good people and will help any way they can.

I am confident that someone was happy to have a new anchor that day. The loss was minimal for the anchor, the rod reel was a little more significant. $120 into the rod reel and only about $25 into the anchor. It was a not major loss but you never know, a person might find a fishing friend for life by just returning the anchor as a friendly jesture.

Maybe 7 or 8 years ago in July I was fishing my favorite water, casting with my ultra-lite. On one cast, the lure hung up on one of the seats and the rod flipped out of my hand. Of course, the lure then released from the boat seat and into the drink it went.

It was to strange a sequence of events to believe and after thinking about it for a bit, I made mental notes of the location using the shoreline. Drove back to the cabin, grabbed the snorkeling gear and went back. Despite all the weeds at the bottom of the lake (about 12 feet of water). I saw something glimmer and waa la. I got my rig back and still have it today.

Another time, we were long lining in about 3 foot of water at night when I had to help my buddy with his fish. When I turned around, my rod was gone. Fortunately, it was floating rapala and I was able to find the rod and reel by first finding the lure.

I've also pulled up my share of old rigs while fishing. Nothing worth keeping, though.
