Does anyone out there have hands on experience with this model Lund, lot's of remarks about the 1700 & 1800 but who owns this boat. Am considering purchase and equipping with 175 Yammy HPDI, would appreciate your input, thank you very much in advance.

I have no experience with the 2000, but I do own the 1800. You will see that the 2000 will be priced (pre-tax, no options) about 28K while a 1950 Tyee Gran Sport is about 31K. This is with a 200 Opti. I have the Yamaha 150 HPDI. Good Luck with your search
I've got a 1700. I think you will find the Fisherman series very nice boats. They are well built and will give you a secure feeling in rough water.

I purchased one last November with a 150 HPDI. I have only got use it a couple of times since. But I like it very much so far. The only thing that could be better is if it had a 175 or 200 on it. The 150 does fine...about 42-45 mph on gps. I don't think that you can go wrong with it. I also looked a the Pro-V's but didn't like the layout and how far back the console is on the Pro-V's. This didn't fit my needs as well as the Tyee or Fisherman. Any question let me know...maybe I can help.

Dear LN,
Have thought about buying either the Lund 2000 with 175 Yam. or the Crestliner 2050 Sportfish/175Yam. Had a Lund 1800 Fisherman and f
ound the ride very rough in any type of wave over about 12". My previous Lund, 89 Baron, rode very well and handled the water conditions on Lake Ontario nicely. The 1800 was fine on a calm day, or in a smaller lake, but literally pounded the daylites out of you on a choppy day. This will be boat #5 and I don't want to make a $30,000.00 mistake. The specs on the Cl seem very similiar to the old Baron model , but the 20 fisherman looks good also , and I'm familiar with the layout. My wife likes the amenities of the CL and that is a potent point. Appreciate your comments.

Just went through what you are doing, and ended up with a 1950 Tyee Ltd. When I stopped and looked at what was standard on the Tyee and optional on the 2000, it was'nt that much more $wise. My dealer was great to work with. If you have a chance, look at them side by side. The answer will be a no brainer.

Sorry...I can't really give you good advice here. This is my first Lund and I haven't rode in a CL. I have rode in several other alum boats and it is a safe to say that the ride will be about the same because of the material it is made out of. My last boat was a 21' center console...there is no comparison on the ride in rough water. Like apples to oranges...but the center console just didn't fit my needs when I am away from the Great Lakes. I test drove my Lund on Erie in good 3 footers....I felt that it was great for an alumnium boat but no where close to the center console. Best case for you...test drive both if you can. I looked at CL's and didn't like the depth of them vs. the Lunds but I didn't study them hard. I have always wanted a Lund and came across a good buy and jumped on it. It's also good to buy something that you and your wife can compromise on. But what do I know..she wanted the center console...so that is what we got. When I was at the great lakes I loved it but hated for my home waters. So I got a Lund!! lol
I will be happy to answer any other questions.

LN,
Thanks for your input, have not seen the Lund 1950 but may be able to at the upcoming Syracuse boat show. I've checked the various sites and comments , also the WC archives on Lund vs. CL and have decided to be thankful for having such a "problem" Just sold my Lund and now I'm ready to buy the new boat. Unfortunately, the Lund and CL dealers are few and far between in upstate NY. We do have lots of snow tho, well over 100" so far. Thanks again, BF

A new 2000 fisherman will actually ride better than your 89 Baron. It has the IPS hull under it and is similar in measurements to the old Baron. The new Barons are alot bigger and wider than the 89 cousins.
