View Full Version : Last Mountain Lake Canada
Has anyone had any experience fishing Last Mountain Lake near Regina? I may have the opportunity to go up this summer, in June or July, and wonder how the Walleye, Northern, and other species fishing is at that time of the year.

I fish two tournaments on Last mountain Lake Sask. every year. Depending on when you go the fishing is for the most part good for good walleye and some big Pike. It seems that for big pike the northern section of the lake north of Rowan's ravine campground on the flats can be awesome for pike. The many main lake points up the main lake are great for walleyes to about 12 pounds on just about anything from rigs and jigs to cranks. Good sized leeches are the bait of choice there for walleye.

Lived in Regina for 20 yrs, fished at Last Mtn. many times. In early June stay by Buena vista beach area, the wally's stage here before heading to deeper water, action can be hot and heavy here at that time of year. Its shallow all over that area, but stay in 7-10' or so, use leaches or night-crawlers.When the lilac trees are blooming is best time(old wisdom), almost a guarantee of very good to excellent fishing.
July can be a very difficult month to have much luck, water is warm in this area, so then go North by Rowan's Ravine park.
Your best bet is Buena-vista in early June, had some of my best fishing ever there,.
Mail me for more details, also know the Qu'appelle lakes fairly well, and some deadly areas.
Good Luck., your fellow Walleye Warrior

I fish this lake a lot. Early in the year, stay on the south end like the previous post said. Walleye action can be nothing short of spectacular. If the walleye don't cooperate, don't hesitate to go after the northerns. Either end can produce, but the north end can be deadly for both size and numbers. There are some seriously big northerns in this lake, believe me. In my opinion, this is a very under-rated lake. Give it a try if you get the chance.
I'd join you, but in June you'll be in-patient at the impulse tackle buyers support group retreat at Cabelas.
