I plan on visiting Northern Michigan in late July and have always wanted to fish Saginaw Bay. I'm interested in trolling crankbaits for walleyes and have heard that Saginaw Bay can be excellent for this at the right time of the year. Any tips on where to try and what depths for this time of year. I've only got a couple of days and it would be great if I could have some guidelines. I would also appreciate help in locating lodging with reasonable rates. Thanks in advance. Howard P

Howard, my suggestion would be to check with Jim at Hoyles Marina in Linwood, they have a very nice launch and parking area. They will also be able to tell you where the bite is going on and what to use. It has been my personal experience that at this time of the year the walleyes are pretty much right out in front of Hoyles from 16 to 20 ft. of water, the Rosemary and Sunfish HotnTot are normally a good bet, along with Willy Worms in yellow or gold. Also, make sure you have some crawler harnesses with silver, gold, and chart. colors, no. 4 and 5., run them back anywhere from 20 to fifty ft. and put on an ounce clip weight, and then another 50 and put your board on. If I can be of anymore help email me at evergreens@voyager.net. Hope this helps. Wallygetter

3/8 oz and 1/4 oz tots in captains choice (blue/silver /red bill, rosemary, trout . 3/8 are 25 to 105 back off the board. tip a 1" piece of crawler too. 3 plus miles per hour.

Throw in a few Gold/black and will be all set on the tots - try the rattle tots if you can find them in the metallic colors.
If you dont have too many in the boat - throw a buoy over when you mark a school of shad and drift through it with crawlers or shiners - almost any presentation will work when you find the fish.

I had good results contacting Welsh's gun & tackle.
Good Luck Save few of them for us unlucky ones who can't join u.
