Time to replace the batteries in the boat two for trolling one for starting and electronics is it worth spending the money for those high buck batteries like optima etc. or stick to die hard bateries it may be worth it if they are lighter and smaller?

If you were happy with your original set of batteries, why spend more money for batteries you might not fully use. I think batteries are important, especially the starting battery. But if your trolling batteries last you all day in the past, I'd just buy yourself another good set of Diehards or comparable batteries. That's my 2 cents.

There is a good thread on this that is pretty recent. I sucked it up and bought some optimas last summer. I was not impressed. They seemed to deliver less power to my motors than the cheapos I replaced. They did not last as long either. I am far from an expert on this but there are a few guys on this board that know the details about batts. Most people that have optimas swear by them. I may have just had a couple of lemons.

Last year I bought (2) Trojan 27TMX Deep Cycle batteries for a 65# Power drive. They have worked great so far. They hold a charge well and can handle a full day fighting the current on the Detroit River. Here are the basic specs.
