Do an RCL tourney

I would like to start off by thanking all the list members who have sent Congratulation e-mails to me for my 4th place finish as a Co-angler at the RCL on Saginaw Bay. It's a great opportunity that I highly recommend to everyone. You'll meet fantastic people, fish great water and you always have the possibility of bringing home a check. The Pro's treat you with respect and I felt like I had a new friend at the end of each day. I was very fortunate to meet allot of people from walleyecentral while I was there. It's fun to finally put a face with a name. New friendships definitely developed. The RCL will be offering the same "discount" for the next tourney in La Crosse WI. You could get in for as little as $250 and your odds of making the cut and getting your expense money back is very good. At Saginaw, there were 95 boats trying to make the first cut (top 60) which allows you to cash a check for $500. Those are great odds. I'll be in La Crosse and would love to meet more of you. A special thank you goes out to Bruce DeShano for referring me and to Bob Devine at Chartertalk Guide Service for taking care of me while I was there.

Why is there a discount?

It's a new tournament and I think that the co-anglers are not aware of the benefits of the RCL vs. the PWT. The RCL gives CASH prizes and the PWT gives merchandise that you have to claim on your taxes. Past posts expressed concern that the merchandise ended up being things that you already had or did not need in some circumstances. I'm not bashing the PWT but just showing a major difference. In both tournaments you'll be able to fish and meet great people and learn a great fishery.

Your number one reason for going should be to learn from the best sticks in the industry. But if you're lucky to make the top 60 in the RCL, it helps with your expenses. Your odds of making the top 60 and getting a check for $500 is really good when there are less than 100 boats.
