I am interested in trying my luck at some night trolling on Lake Mille Lacs and was wondering if anyone can tell me is there a specific depth you stay at when you troll at night or anything you look for ie.. rocks open water ect... I would really like to try it sometime but have no idea where to try and how deep of water I'm looking for. Any info would be great thanks

I have had my best luck on the shallower rock reefs and adjacent edges. I haven't found a specific depth, but rather a range of 5-15 feet. I would try Anderson's or Three mile to begin with. Last year, trolling a number five shad rap in roughly 13 ft. of water produced one near eleven pounds!

Usually any reef coming up to 5 feet or so will do. Also the rocky shorelines on the north side are good. I like to start early at the 10 foot level and work up. Once it's dark, I feel that the shallower the better. As stated a #5 Rap is great and will take big fish. Make sure that you don't use a crank that goes too deep.
