Just got my 620 with 225 Opti with smart gauges. I've never used the smart gauges before and was just wondering how they've worked for others and the benefits or nonbenefits. Thanks

Have them on my 620 now, more of a hassel using them than they are worth. Won't be ordering on my new boat this year.

I have a 200hp Merc Opti w/o the SmartCraft gauges. Dealer advised me to pass on them, indicating that for the money they were not worth the additional information they supplied. I also felt that the sensors would be expensive to replace, require a trip to the dealer to put the box on the computer to indicate the fault, and a pain, especially if they fail or give false indications. I have heard of sensors failing, troll down chips acting up and alarms going off. Do you want to fish, boat or spend the day on the water playing with the gauges, wondering why all the sudden you are running a few degrees hotter, or why you fuel flow is higher at idle. However, some feel that if you spend $12 grand or more on a motor you would want to protect that investment.I can understand that. And some people are techno nuts. I guess it boils down to what would you want? Good luck!
