I'm looking to buy a new Trophy, Fisherman or Sportfish and have been told by dealers and this board that there may be some engine shortages? Does anyone else know about this? Is it for real or a genius in the marketing department driving up early saes?
I'm narrowing my choices to a 150 FICHT or a 140 Suzuki or Johnson 4 stroke.

When I was at the boat show, several boat deals told me I couldnt get the boat I wanted with a 115 4 stroke Merc. They said they were backed ordered till next year! Other then that they said there was not much else that I couldnt get. I guess for some reason the 115 was a big seller, plus the fact Yamaha I guess builds them for merc and they can't keep up with there own stuff.

(just what I was told)

Your motor choices do not have shortages nor did they last year.

Yamaha 4-strokes and the merc 4strokes provided by Yamaha are not taking orders till 2004. Merc 115 4stroke was never available this year to the dealers but is in the catalog.

yamaha was taking orders on 4strokes until about Dec.....then shut off till 2004......so you'll need to go to a dealer that has lots in stock......

Mercury is only getting a certain number of motors and power heads from YAMAHA!
They took a bigger number of 225 over 115.
Maybe they could make there own motor some day!

RJ's Sport and Cycle in Duluth has Yamaha 115's in stock. But the boat show was last week and my salesman today said business has picked up this week. I'd call asap while they still have them. 218-729-5150

I was told last week at the local sportshow that Merc will build their own 4 strokes next year.
