WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE ON A MERC MOTOR WHEN IT SAYS DIGITAL OR NOTHING AT ALL?
Is this the new thing Merc is coming out with to compete with the 2007 epa regs. Or just another excuse to attempt to compete with the superior 4 stroke Yamaha? Have at it boys!
Good Luck Tyee

My 2003 EFI 225 is Digital which means it can have the smart gauges which mine does . That said I think all of the new big blocks are digital now , at least that is what I was told . Now you know everything I know about Digital Merc motors which isn't much and may not be correct either . I do like the smart gauges on my EFI .

Rodhog,
Could you be referring to Mercury's DTS System? This is digital throttle and shift. You may be more familiar with the term "fly by wire". They have removed the throttle and shift cables, and instead use digital signals to run relays, solenoids and stepper motors to ajust engine functions. Try this:
