View Full Version : Yamaha outboard technical info?
I'm buying a yamaha 4 stroke 2HP or 4HP outboard for a canoe. Looking at them in the showroom, they appear to have the same props, and the specs sheet show them to have the same gear ratios. At idle (minimum RPM), would they not troll at the same speed? If so, it would be nice to have the 4HP for the extra power when the canoe is loaded.

The 4 horse would be better. The motors will run close to same idle rpm so it equalls really close to same speed for trolling. The 4 will give you that little bit more umf when you need it.
Here is someone who can help

Why not ask Yammi-user, he knows it all, just look at his startlingly witty post from another thread.

You should have stayed away from MErcury period..... Always go with a Yammi."
Hard to argue with logic like that!
