Leeches will stretch out now -- if you can get them. The long held notion they did not work in early season is largely the creation of the bait industry. They were not available, so we were told they don't stretch out in cold water. They, as are fish, are cold blooded animals -- they have no heat regulator system, no thermostat. If you got em, use em.
