Anyone have any experience, good or bad, with Freeway in Fenton, MI? I'm in the market for a boat but want to be sure the dealer's service department and overall customer service is good. Thanks in advance for any advice!

No experience with the dealer, but Lance Valentine works out of Freeway Sports Center--so it's gotta be okay!! If you don't know him, Lance is the walleye pro putting on the free seminars at four Gander Mountain locations around Michigan.
No experience with them other then the parts dept. thumbs up there. But if your looking for a Lund or Starcraft Bo and the folks at Chapmans Sports Center in Davison are hard to beat. Just signed on the dottted line tonight for the second boat I have bought from them.
Good luck good fishing!!

I bought a boat from there and will never go back. I had the boat three hours and had major problems with the boat. Went back to the dealer and was told to call the factory and there is the door. First it took them almost three months to get the boat as I was told that it would be in two weeks. Several of my freinds have had similar experince with this dealer. I am glad that there are many other dealers in the area. JM

I've had only one experience with Freeway, and it was lacking. Nothing horrible, but first impressions are usually indicative of the overall service one can expect. It was enough to cause me to drive 150 miles one way for the rig I was seeking at the time (Yarcraft). As stated in a previous post, call Chapman's in Lapeer - great products, great service, and they'll work with you on a package.

A few of my friends had bad experiences with the service department and the salesmen are not very knowlegeable about rigging a boat for fishing.Bought my boat from Jans Sport Shop a few years ago, they knew fishing boats, price was super and the service has been great!

Hey -
Just bought my T8 kicker from there. I had limited dealings with them but I can tell you this. The girls up front were good looking and nice, the salesman was a schmuck, and their service department - and I went inside, was nothing to brag about. If you are looking for a good boat at a good price up that way - previous emailer was correct - Jan's is the way to go. Would have bought my boat there except their was one for same price 2 miles from my house. If you do go there talk with a salesman named Dick - nice guy and a good salmon fisherman - knows his stuff and is willing to deal. They sell Smokercraft, Crestliner and Monark - Good Luck.

What brand of boat are you looking for, maybe I can help lead you to a dealer in the surrounding area that will take much better care of you.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I appreciate your suggestions but the boat I'm looking at is a Bryant. (http://www.bryantboats.com/)
Its a bowrider, not a fishing boat. Its a very nice boat, no wood in it at all, well finished, low production (400 per year), often compared with Cobalt. I'll be using it for general pleasure boating, fishing (mostly a small Oakland county lake where I'll dock it) and skiing/tubing. As far as I know, the only local or near-local dealer is Freeway. That said, would your impression of Freeway be bad enough to persuade you to look at another boat brand? Or just go ahead and hope for the best?
if you're looking for a high quality plastic boat and dealer to match check out wilson's just down the road in brighton.
