Looking at buying a 2000 model with a 115 on it. Just wondering what the max horsepower is on this boat and what to expect out of the 115 speed wise. Also looking at a new fishhawk 1750 with a 115. Will they run about the same speed. Also can anyone give some comparison on these boats. Yes I know one is used and one is new, but the used one is in great shape so that does not matter.

I have a 2001 170TP with a 115 Yam 4 stroke. 17 pitch alum. prop. Top end is usually 42-44 mph. gps. Very solid boat.

I have a Trophy 175 bought it with a 125 on it and performance was very good. Changed to a 115 Merc 4 stroke with stainless prop and am very happy with that combo. Motor is very smooth, quiet, but just not quite the snap of the 125 merc. That is not important to me, the starting and the smoothness are the issues for me.
I was also looking at the same two boats and found that the alumacraft had a lot more standard features such as:(2)air ride pedestals, (2)recirculator pumps, cd player in the new ones, dual livewells, drop in bait bucket, seat slide, tilt steering wheel, dry storage liner in front storage compartment, not to mention the 2xb hull design and the ppg paint finish. I bought a new 2002 from Nick at lacannes marine and saved a lot of money. they sell both. the crestliner is a great boat for room but you get a lot more value with the alumacraft. hopefully this helps you.

I own a '99 TP 170 with a '99 Johnson 115 (carb). I have a 13 7/8" x 17" stainless prop and run 48+ gps empty, full trim, pushing 5800 RPM's. When it's loaded for the tourneys I run, 2 guys, lots of gear, gas, 15 hp Honda kicker I run solid 42mph. With aluminum prop it was around 42 empty. I've been told I have a "one in a million" for the performance on this rig. I don't know about that. It is a great performing boat and I run in a lot of rough water. The Alumacraft site said my boat performed around 36mph with a 115 Merc. I couldn't believe it.
I do know a guy who had a 115 FICHT, same year boat, and he couldn't push 36mph if I remember right. He thought the hull was crooked or something like that?
In the tourney I run, there is a guy with a 2001 1750 Fishhawk w/ 115 Johnson (carb) and he runs the same speed w/ 2 guys and gear (42ish mph).
I also ran against a '02 TP170 w/ a 115 Yammy 4 stroke. I passed them on the water, guessing they were about 40mph or so.
They haven't changed a thing in layout/hull design in the TP170 since '99 til 2003 models (that I could see). Different seats, gauges, radio, paint design is about it.
