I have a Lund Alaskan 20 dual console, and just purchased a permanent marine radio for it. How do I mount the antenna when I do not have the flat side gunnels to mount it on? And can I mount it so that it doesn't interfer with putting the full top on and off? I read somewhere that the radio should be at least 3 feet from the antenna. Is that accurate? Where's the best place to mount the radio? Should I get an 8-ft'er, or will one of the shorter ones be OK?

Thanks!

I mounted my 8 ft antenna on the driver side rod locker right next to the counsel. It's only 2 ft from the radio and I have had no problems. I'd definately get the bigger antenna as heigth is what gives you more range. We get excellant reception as far as 10 miles out from the marina in Lake Erie.

Do you have a top on your boat, and does the antenna get in the way?
