Reading alot of posts recently of guys with blown powerheads and other catastrophic engine failures. Common thread seems to be wot settings and ruuning their motors "pinned" going from a to b. Are these large outboards designed to run at max speed/rpm for long periods? I wouldn't run my car or aircraft at wot so what is difference? Additionally, at full speed you can't throw gas out a window as fast as my 200efi will burn it. Recall a post maybe a year ago that mentioned my motor will get its best economy at 3500?rpm's. So its seems from a practical/maintenance point of view that we push our motors too hard if they're run at the max. Am I wrong? Thanks
