I fished the St. Croix on Wed afternoon. It rose at least 1 foot that day. It is extremely high again and the no-wake restriction was put into effect on Wed. The fish don't seem to mind the high water but I have a tough time catching good walleyes while it is rising.
Just got off about an hour ago. My bro and Dad are still there. We got a couple small smallies, a nice crappie, and a few 14-15 inch range walleye. We saw another boat pull in a few.
Yeah, the water is HIGH! We got our eyes in about 24 feet on fatheads and worms on spinners/float and bottom bouncers.
We thought it would be a bit better given the reports, but it was our first time on the river this year and the water is pretty high. Maybe we were too deep. We did try jigs in the trees and shallows, but nothing.
Good fishing,
