I have a lund pro v 1775 with a 150 Opti Max and have a two bank charger onboard, do I need a three bank or is a two bank just fine? I understand that a three bank will charge all batteries including the main motor, but doesn't the 150 Opti have a big enough charger built in it to charge that battery? Thanks for the information in advance! Darrin

with all the stuff you are probably running off your starting battery its nice to have 3 banks. if the boat all ready has a 2 bank i would be more tempted just to add a small charger and leave it in the boat.

Getting a second charger seems like a wise idea. A less expensive 1 bank charger will suit your needs quite well -- unless you need to replace your 2 bank, then go for the three banks. In my understanding, a 4 amp charger that is designed charge and maintain a battery is better for your starting battery. There have been good discussions on this issue at Lake-Link.com (Wisconsin). River Rat, one of their contributors, also wrote a great article on batteries, maintenance of same, and how to charge them. That article is in the archive section of the site: http://lake-link.com/anglers/articles/article.cfm?ArticleID=129. I purchased a 3 bank Guest charger last summer, 10/10/4 amps, and have found it to suit my needs very well. I generally recharge batteries immediately upon getting back home. I noticed that the main battery generally would show that it needed recharging, but this seemed to last only a few minutes before it was fully charged (green light).
