View Full Version : Mounting board across stern of boat.
I'd like to mount a board across the stern of my Lund Reben but I'm unsure how to mount it.. The whole Idea is not to have to drill holes. Dose anyone have any expertise as to how to mount a board across my stern, above the splash guard, that I can mount my rod holders etc onto?
Thanks Jess

I have a Lund REBEL 1650SS, either mount your board with quality C clamps, or in my opinion get Downeast double clamp rod holders, and place them where you need them, and move them in a minute if need be.

Jess, Cabelas carries a pair of clamps that you can put on your boat and not drill any holes for. I use them to attach my downrigger board. They are very sturdy, and on my boat hold 2 downriggers and 4 rod holders. If you can't find them on Cabelas website, let me know, as I believe I have them bookmarked somewhere. I believe they were about $30.

Put 4 feet of stainless steel handrail on both gunwales -- hand rails are always useful anyway. Then you can mount the downrigger board and rail-mount rod holders to the handrail. It is much better than C clamps and does not stick out over the side to bang into docks and posts. Total cost for steel rail and supports will be about $50, but well worth it.

Is this them? Are you familiar with a Lund Rebel? Will these mount to my alluminum boat????
I'm not sure where the cleats (those things you can wrap rope around) are on a Lund, but on our Alumacraft we used them to attach a 5/16 eye bolt (that we opened up enough to get around the cleat) and ran the bolt up thru the board and it was real solid. Solid enough that one time when we hooked downrigger balls in rocks the boat was stopped and the board never creaked.
Thanks,
I ended up doing something simular accept I didn't wrap the I bolt around.
Thanks,
Jess
