I am looking for a new depth finder and have been looking at the Garmin 240 and comparing it the the Lowrance 75. I sold my old boat that had an Eagle ultima on it and I would not buy that one again. The Garmin seems to be very user Friendly however, the Lowrance is number one for a reason. Let me know your opinions.

The chart speed on the garmin is slow. I think it's too slow for the console. I have mine on the trolling motor, it works fine there.
IMHO,

I too made the choice between these two units. The X-75 is a much better unit with many more usefull features. The greyline in the lowrance units surpasses that of the garmin, and the Lowrance also has the split screne where you can zoom in. The Fasttrack is another feature that the X-75 has that is nice. The only thing I like more about the garmin is that it has 2 or 3 different light settings. I belive the Gamin had quite a bit more peak to peak power also.
There two great units, hopfulyy you will get one well suited for your needs, MarbleEyes
