View Full Version : T8 Question
Is the Yamaha T8 kicker available without the power tilt and trim? I have an older kicker to replace, but I already have the Minn Kota Power Up tilt and trim on a Lund 1775. What's a ballpark price?

Here's the breakdown on Yamaha numbers:
T or F - T is the high thrust
# - Horsepower
M,E,P - Manual start, electric start, electric start w/ tilt
S,L,X - Shaft (short, long, extra long)
H,R - Controls (Tiller handle, remote shift & throttle)
B - Model year (A=2002, B=2003)
Also, a search at http://www.boats.net/cgi-local/listings.pl?stype=motor&type=list&HP=8.0 can help with all the numbers.
I've got the PH and love it.

If you dont need the power trim have you thought about the High thrust 9.9 4 stroke from yamaha.? This is an excellent motor.
Yes, the 9.9 high thrust would be an option, but I really like the engineering on the T8 tiller control, with the longer handle and (forward/reverse) shift on the handle. I don't think these are options on the 9.9.

Yes you can get the Yamaha 8hp fourstroke without the power lift. But I didn't price one so I can't help you there. I just purchased a 2003 T8 with electric start and power lift through Cabelas in Dundee, Michigan for $2219.00 plus tax. Hopefully you can get the new motor before the end of March to get the additional 2 years warranty. Good luck finding your kicker.

For a 1775 Pro-V, is the long shaft (I assume it's the 20 incher) adequate? or is the extra long shaft (25 inch) necessary? Thanks.

The L 20" is what you are looking for for the 1775.

Is there an extended warrenty on the T8 motors? I did not see this at the Boats.net site.

No extended warranty on the T8's.
The Yamaha 40-90 HP 4 strokes have an extended warranty. The T8's, and T9.9's do not.
Thanks for all the info and help. I appreciate it.

After checking into the extended warranty, it looks like the warranty covers 40hp through 100hp fourstrokes, not the T8. Sorry for the bad info. Thanks for the headsup Shaggy.
