Talk about pre planning, in the years I have left for fishing I would like to try the Columbia River for big eye's. I would be most thankful for any information anyone may have about fishing this area.
Thanks,
Ron

The Columbia has some really excellent walleye fishing, though I'm really not an expert on it (I mostly fish it for salmon and steelhead). There are some really big fish caught in late winter (February-March) but there are fish to be caught almost year-round. The summer fishing can be really productive pulling plugs or spinners; winter is mostly a jig scene. There's a very informative book called Columbia River Walleye II by Ron Boggs. I've done really well for eyes in August and early September while waiting for the salmon to arrive.

Any idea where I could get the book you reference?

Check Ron Boggs' Pro page here on Walleye Central. Also look at the books and vid's for sale on this site.

When I was living in Portland I attend a few of the walleye seminars held (correct me if I'm wrong) the second Thurs of the month @ Fishermans Marine. I was suprised to see differences between SD lake tatics and those used on the Columbia. I can't remember the guys name but he had great tips/tricks. If you contact FM they could get you in contact w/him I'm sure. He was really kewl and has a oracle of knowledge. Hope that help.

Tom also just won the Spring Classic Tournement. Check out on WC Mainpage tournements, then Columbia River Walleye Circuit, then Irrigon Spring Classic, then results. Tom has a 12 1/2 pounder. Not lots of fish, but good size. The Columbia ia a big river with lots of current. If your new here, you might be best with a guide. ##### O'Brien, "Touche'" Clark, or Ed Iman are all excellent guides. Right now we are beginning our spring runoff (snowmelt from mountains=high water). Best to wait til after 4th of July. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the input.
How can I get a hold of some of the guides in that area. Anyone have a phone number, I've got the names but no towns etc. needed to find phone numbers.
Thanks in advance
