Forgot the minnow net in the live well last year and now I have rust stains in there. I have a white fiberglass baitwell. How does one get these stains out.

I would try "Bar Keeper Friend", It can be purchased at grocery stores, Comes in a 21 oz can in a power form similar to Comet. It works great to clean stains from porcellan sinks. Reading from the can, "Removes Rust", Cleanser and Polish Stainless steel, porcelain, Fiberglass. Sprinkle the BKF on a wet clothdamp cloth, making sure the area to be cleaned is wet first. Gently rub until the discolaration is gone. I know it does wonders for sink stains and expect the same results in your live well. I would flush out the live well with water after removing the stains.

There is another product called whink. This is the best stuff I've found for getting out rust or hard water stains. After you get the stains out make sure you rinse the wells real good. Rich

One of the best things out there for a white boat, is Iron Out .
It is sold in grocery store and hardware stores. It is often used when washing cloths to get iron stains out.

I believe that it contains potassiam hydroxide. When you use it you should use it in a well ventilated area, and be sure to use rubber gloves.

All you have to do, is to use a sponge to wet the area of interest. Sprinkle some of the white power "Iron Out" over the area of interest.
Wait for 5 minutes, being sure to be out of the immediate area. It will fume and smoke like crazy when it comes into contact with any iron. The powder goes into solution, and turns the iron into a water soluable solution. After 5 minutes, simply take a sponge and rinse off. Do a final rinse with clean water, and you will be good to go.
This product is one of the best overall products for getting all kinds of stains off a boat. Much of the stains that get on a boat are iron based. Any of these stains, simply rinse off, after an application of iron out.

Let chemistry do the cleaning, rathern than your back. Also, it is actually better for the surface, since you actually turn the iron into a solution, and you don't use any kind of grit to partially scrub off some of the surface of the boat.

Take care

Iron Out also makes a product that comes in a spray bottle for cleaning showers. I used last year at the cabin on a fiberglass tub surround. Just spray it on and wipe the rust color off with a damp cloth. Be sure and follow the directions since as REW said it does give off fumes. I bought it at Fleet Farm for $3-4 a bottle.

Iron out is the way to go. Or, fish anywhere in Wisconsin for a day and your whole livewell will be rust stained:) Either way you'll have one color.
