I'm considering a Crestliner sportfish 1850 with a 115 yamaha 4- stroke. Does anybody think this motor will lack performance, compared to the 140 johnson 4-stroke. Is the Johnson 140 a good motor The dealers say it is a suzuki motor with johnson stickers. Do you think I should put the 115 on and save $1000 bucks or put the 140 to increase performance?

Check the archives - plenty of discussion on this. I have an 1850 SportFish with a 115 Johnson 2 stroke. 41-42 mph on GPS. Works fine for most fishing needs unless you need to run faster at WOT. A little underpowered for water sports - especially on the hole-shot.
I just bought the same boat and I went with the 140 Johnson 4 stroke. It is a Suzuki motor, but I have heard they make a great 4 stroke. The max hp rating is 175, so I would go with the 140. For only a $1,000 it will make a big difference.

I can't say what the performance with the Johnson 4stroke would be, but the boat you are looking at is rated for 115 - 175. Personally I'd try to avoid being at the minimum. For an extra $1,000 your be very happy with the performance
I have a 1850 Sportfish with a 150 Yam.
How does that 150 yam push it?
