Taking family fishing for eyes over the 4th of July. Will be basing out of Isle, MN. Please help with any techniques, hot spots, do's, & don't even bothers. Thanks in advance. Also heard the plug bite is good I have downriggers is it worth dragging them along??
Run the gravel / sand break lines at 24-32 feet - with a spinner rig and bottom bouncer with a brass or copper hammered spinner - pulling a crawler.
Should have no problems getting lots of walleys.
Vary your trolling speed up to 3 mph. Better fast than slow lately.
Key on the transition areas. i.e. gravel to sand, gravel to mud, or mud to sand.
If you prefer you can run the flats at the bottom of the breaks either with the same spinner rig, or with a live bait rig and a big black leech. The flats fis are bigger but fewer. It is likely that you might pick up a few slot fish in the areas away from the flats.
Take care

p.s.
Remember the small mouth fishing, if you get tired of fishing for Walleys. This is largely a catch and realease fishery for the Small mouth bass - but the opportunity to catch some really big fish. Standard small mouth fare, or even, the plain split shot and a leech, much as you would rig for walleyes. Except work the shallow mid lake rocks for the small mouth.
