Best walleye fishing this year in this area. Real shallow bite. Freight train stripers will unspool your line in a heartbeat. Just break off before you even try to turn one.

Hey, these stripers sound like fun. How frequent are the hits and what size are we talking about. I suppose the walleyes have moved somewhat deeper. Trolling crankbaits?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-26-01 AT 07:44PM (CST)[p]Check out the KDWP fishing reports page. Last I heard they were still shallow. We haven't really had a lot of hot weather so the lakes are cooler than normal this year. West side of the lake is probably the best, although they have been caught all over the lake. You can try trolling, but jig and crawler on point breaks really produces also. There is also a hump off Sail Boat Cove you may want to try.
Good luck! Don't take too many, Keep enough for a couple of meals and let the rest go. We don't want this fishery cleaned out of good fish. It took 4 good years to get this quality of fishing and there are very few short fish to be caught (previous year classes).
