I'm considering buying a Alumacraft 175 w/ a Honda 115. Will that boat and motor combination troll at 1.5 - 2mph w a aluiminum prop?

Probably not. I have a Honda 75 hp and have to back troll with a drift sock to get down to 1.5 or slower. Maybe 2 to 2.5 mph though.

Mark P,
I am currently running a Smokercraft 178 Fazer which I believe would be a similar size to your 175. I have it outfitted with a Honda 115. According to the GPS I can troll down to about 1.3 mph on a calm day. I don't remember it going below that. The 115 Honda can idle down to about 650 rpms due to the fuel injection. The 75/90 Hondas are still carbed so I don't think they can idle down as low. I chose the 115 over the 90 for the fuel injection.
I am also turning a smaller pitch prop, a 13.75 x 15p prop which may have something to do with it. Others seem to run larger pitch props and get a little more top end speed, but I troll alot for Salmon and Trout on Lake Ontario. For Lakers I usually go slow as possible, but for salmon I sometimes have to increase the rpm's to 850-900, sometimes 1000+ to get the speed necessary for fishing salmon. I like this flexibilty.
Just make sure if you are buying a 115/130 from 2000 that the updated fuel pump has been replaced under warranty/recall.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback, The motor is a 2002 115hp and it has the factory prop I can check to see if it was recalled and I don't know what the pitch is but I can ask.
Thanks

Mark,
For comparison, I have a 2000 90hp honda on a 1700 ProSport (1060 dry weight).
My 90 will idle down to 600 rpm (on-dash guage) which pushes me at 2.7 gps on a calm day. I have to put out either a drift sock or 5 gallon buckets to get lower (@1.3 with two buckets off the back tiedown eyes).
I have a 17 pitch aluminum prop which is standard size i believe.

I have a 115hp Honda on a Lund Fisherman 1700 which should be darned close to your outfit. I can troll under 2mph all day long. I run a Merc Black Max 13.75 x 15 three blade and sometimes a 13.00 x 15 four blade and with both I can troll under 2 mph. By GPS is varies between about 1.3 and 1.7 mph.
