Fellow Anglers,

I've got a Lowrance X75 unit currently mounted on my boat console, and an old Humminbird original "black box" flasher at the bow. Well, the old 'bird just died, so I'm considering buying a new unit, preferably another Lowrance. My first thought was to re-mount the X75 unit at the bow and buy a new unit (with GPS?) for the console. My primary haunts are the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers. Please let me know of your recommendations for a new unit. Also, what are your thoughts on the overall performance of the Lowrance X75?

Thanx in advance for any advice you can provide.

I like my 75 alot. I put a flasher on the bow but do not use it as much as I thought I would. I too primarily fish rivers (St. Croix) and wish I had the 75 on the bow so I could periodically glance at the picture instead of trying to stare at the flasher. With all of the commotion going on around me, especially since I'm fishing moving water, I find that I cannot stare at the flasher and end up missing marks that go by. I mostly rig fish but a jig fisherman would probably benefit more with the flasher as long as he could keep his jig in the cone on the river. I am looking for a used 85 to put on my dash so I can move the 75 up front. Also I suppose If I fished lakes more I could appreciate the flasher up front more but with the method of fishing I mostly do I would rather have a picture that stays available for several seconds. This has been my experience. Hope it helps.
