Looking to purchase a bow mount locater under 400.00
I can't decide between the zercom 1600, the garmin 160 blue with the dual freq. transducer -- or the lowrance x-75. Any suggestions -- pros and cons. I am basically sticking with these manufacturers because I plan on switching out my Minnkota Powerdrive to an Autopilot when they come out with the built in
trolling transducer. From what I understand they will be producing this motor with these manufactures in mind.

Just put an X75 on our dash board this year and love it. The picture is great from any angle - the backlight makes it great for at night as well. I haven't used the others though, so it would be worth while to get input from someone who has. As for the motor, get the highest thrust you can.
Good luck - erik

Careful, the 160 BLUE has transducer of 50 Khz at 45 degrees, and the 200 Khz at 10 degrees much narrower than normal 20. Overall I'm happy.... but it is harder to deal with than expected. On dual (both freqs simultaneously) you can tell fish off to side ONLY with stupid fish symbols on. Put in signal mode and you're just like the 50KHz, fine for seeing fish but disaster at reading bottom type or weeds. Put in 10 degree mode, and bottom reading is very informative on weeds, composition, and slope changes.... but rarely a fish.

If I can adjust, I'll be a better fisherman. On my bow mount motor, I have a B-line Sidefinder, and set up to swivel and see shallow fish to the side. The combo works for me, but works me.
