I am thinking of purchasing this unit. Never used GPS before but would like to use it to set up fishing routes on say, breaklines etc.. Also to store spots and be able to use it to cvover spots better. Is this unit capable of that? Price range is around 400 Any better units for the price?

Got one this spring & I think it's great. Make sure you get the optional Mapcreate & smartmap pkg. I bought several of the Navionic Hot Spot map CD's & wasn't that impressed with them for the price.
Would be nice if the Journey had more memory but I guess you have to go to the X15 for that.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-27-01 AT 07:04AM (CST)[p]I purchased the Eagle Status this spring and love it. You may want to consider this unit because it is the exact same as the Journey except it has the additional sonar unit in it. Reed's was selling the Status for less money than the Journey! You get the MapCreate CD with it as well. Reeds was $419...check them out. www.reedssports.com

ps. The Mapcreate CD is included with the Status, if you purchase it with the Journey, which I recommend you get, you will pay in the neighborhood of $430 for the Journey and the CD.
