I know the dealer will give me the break-in specs on the new Rude. I am wondering what other rude owners have done during their break-in period? What does it take?
RTM - Read the manual and follow it PRECISELY. I know of a 250 that already cooked.

Pete,
Just wondering if you bought the 21 MSX? That motor should push it very well. Still waiting for mine but it shouldn't be much longer. Have fun in your new rig.

Peter:
Unless they have changed from last year, here is the breakin proceedure. The break in period is 5 hrs. After reaching 2000 rpm the computer will kick in to the break in mode. At this time the motor will double the oil injected into the fuel. This will continue as long as you don't go below 2000 rpm. Work the engine through various rpm ranges (2500-6000) including WOT but don't stay at the same for any extended period of time. I varied rpm's on mine every 2-3 minutes. Carry an extra jug of oil with you. I found it best to leave the rods at home and went out and did the break in, in one day, just cruising the lake. Also, after 3 hrs., I trimmed the motor down and made the engine work a little harder. The only thing I noticed with mine was that the plugs had fouled after break in due to the amount of oil that was used during break in. Your going to like the power the rude has. Good luck.

Iknow a boat dealer ,he sales evinrude ..johnson and Yamaha Motors.Champion,Sylvan, and Express boatr. He water test all new boats and motors, before customer get the keys. Now I have watched this many times. He puts boat in the water and takes off. WOT up and down the river.Stops and hammers it again. Repeats this for 30 minutes or so.I have often wondered what this is all about?? So much for easy break in. No I don't buy from this Guy.I also knew a Yamaha and alumacraft dealer that says they would do break in of the motor before you would get your boat. He says they would run motor for one hour to completely break in for you. He's retired now . No I did not buy from this guy .

Scott,
Yes, I just put in my order about 2 weeks ago. Purchased the Stratos 21 MSX Full Windsheild. It was hard to pass up that rebate/extended warranty for the Rude. Pays for the kicker. The dealer just called today and said it would be in production April 28 and arrive at the dealer May 12th. Now for purchasing all the extra goodies to go in the boat.
When does your Stratos arrive?

Pete,
Congrats on your new rig. The Evinrude should be a great motor. Have to let us know how everything works out. The dealership said I should have it by the end of the month. We'll see. Did you purchase it from Spellmans? What are the options that you decided on? Enjoy it as much as you can. Take care.
