Transom Saver Usage

I have bought a transom saver from Cabelas this weekend and am wondering "What is the best way to use it? Do you have the motor all the way up, some where in between, or all the way down?" What is the best way to trailer with it on? Thanks for all your help in advance.

I rigged mine by elimination -
1. All the way down - drags skeg on driveway
2. All the way up - Saver rod won't reach the motor
3. 1/2 up - Looks good, keeps skeg out of the dirt, and fits nicely
