View Full Version : Johnson 90 hp--4 Stroke
I am looking at buying an Alumacraft Magnum 165 CS and maxing it out with a 90 horse Johnson 4 Stroke. I understand this motor has a Suzuki powerhead. Are any of you running this motor right now? If so, what are the pros and cons you have about it as of now?
Thanks,
Otts

Johnson J90 4stroke is made by Suzuki, painted by suzuki, crated by suzuki, shipped to a Johnson warehouse. Same as the DF90 Suzuki.
Good motor. Fuel-Injected.
The general feeling is that this motor has some of the latest motor design on the market. Works well, good reliability, and has an excellent warrenty.
Good shopping
Take care

I have the 140 johnson 4 stroke and it is awsome. So quiet and so much power. I put it on a Crestliner 1850 sportfish and I am trully amazed.
You will love the 90.

Hi Ole;
What kind of top end are you getting with your Johnson 140 4-stroke?
I am waiting for my new boat which I ordered with the same motor- a Lund 1700 Fisherman (1300 lbs. and 92" beam) - and I was just wondering what I could expect for performance. I also have a 9.9 Johnson 4-stroke kicker coming as well. Does anyone have any comments on this smaller, carburaeted motor?
Have you had a chance to come to any conclusions on fuel mileage?
Thanx!
I had her at 49 mph at 5900 rpm with 9 gallons of gas and two people. The motor had a 19 pitch prop, but it turned it too fast so they put a 21 pitch on and it works great. Hole shot is great too. If you get this motor put on your boat it will fly. What an awsome motor! The dealer I bought it from was getting the same motor put on a 18 ft Alumacraft and he was very happy to see how it performed on the sportfish.
You are so going to love that motor, so quiet and so fast. I filled the tank before I drove it at all (39 gallons) and I am still way past the full mark after a little over 3 hours on the motor. It only runs off fumes or something LOL.
Have fun!
