View Full Version : X 15 MT windows
Has anyone set-up the window in the split screen, plot screen left/graph screen right, with the GPS speed showing in a box on the plot side. I would like to have a plot showing where I am travaling, with the speed. I use this when downrigging. I need the graph to show fish too. I can't rely on the water wheel, as at slow speed it is not very accurate. I always had this feature on the older GPS units. I like to troll at 1.2mph to 2.5mph and can't read me speed unless I switch to a differant screen and then back to the split screen. Any help would be appricated. Good luck FISHING...Kaz

Kaz, This question has come up before without an answer. I've tried several times to find a way to do it and can only get water speed on the sonar side and no data at all on the GPS side.
I've resorted to running my 350a right beside it on plot with data and the 15mt on full screen or split screen sonar, while trolling. Hopefully they'll have it in one of their updates, it would be a nice option to have.
I've got a question of my own about the Map Create software. It's the slowest program on my computer at home and also my computer at work and they are both fairly new fast computers. Does anyone else find this to be the case or have any suggestions to correct it.

I am interested in figuring out how to do that also. I rely on my SOG when I'm trolling. The other thing that bugs me is I can't hit an event icon when I'm in split screen format. I have to switch to the all MAP page, hit icon, scroll to the icon I want, than go back to making it a split screen. And when I have a fish on you all know we just have loads of time to monkey around with that while realing in the fish, right?
Hopefully it will be something the techs at Lowrance will read and issue an update to fix these situations.

Well I can't belive we are unable to program this fuction. It's a very much needed feature. The people at LOWRANCE must know the importance of reading the speed when trolling. How could they overlook this!!! Maybe there is a way. All of the other GPSs I have owned were able to do this. Did they forget what the other units had???? Maybe a future update will do this. I have 1.9, does 2.1 have this????? Anybody know??? Good luck FISHING...Kaz PS "Back to top, what does gfh mean"
I had 2 of these units and also noticed that problem along with many other problems. I didn't like the way it plotted at ultra low speeds. It would plot a series of straight lines like it was connecting the dots and other times it would just draw a long straight line with no turns or curves. Also when heading the opposite direction it would eat up the trail it had just made leaving me with no trail. 1 of the units had also crapped out after 3 day's and would not graph at all. When I removed the unit from the dash there was something inside the unit rattling around. Needles to say I was not very happy with these 2 pieces of crap. I later found out that there are many software updates to these units that may or may not solve these problems. Well I don't want to be upgrading a unit every 2 weeks, Lowrance should have had alot of the bugs worked out before selling it to the consumer. After paying retail I personally did not want to be their consumer ginny Pig. To make a long story short Cabela's took the units back, no questions asked. After being a long time Lowrance guy, I'm going to give Bottomline a try.

When in split screen, push the pages button so the map portionof the screen is highlighted on top. It should be dark black not lighter. Just as you need to do for the menu to work for that part of the screen. You should be able to enter icons then. Stephen

I also would like to get the gps speed in split screen mode. As far as I can tell, you can't. I have downloaded v2.1 to take care of sonar issues and it does not have this feature (speed) or at least I can't find it. Maybe they figure they will sell more speed sensors at $100 if they dont include the gps speed. Lets hope thats not the reason.
good luck

Wishfull thinking:
If anyone from Lowrance is reading this, please make a software upgrade to add gps speed displayable in split screen mode(gps on left sonar on right). I have patiently waited for the bugs to get worked out and it seems they are getting there but the gps speed really should have been there (split screen) from the start. Heck I'd even pay for such a upgrade, not that I think I should have to. If it is already on the unit could you explain how to use it.

Someday, I thank you for the info but I understand how to do that part. What bothers me, is if I have a fish on, I liked the quick action I got from the Global Map 2000 where I just hit event icon and push fish. On the X-15, I have to go through a long series of buttons to get the icon. I really don't have time for that.

With the X-15 there is a button on the bottom (I can't remember off hand ) but its labled "ICON". It only takes two buttons to store the default icon at your current location.

In order to use the icon button you have to be on the map only or digital map only. It won't work with split screen format, i.e. sonar/map screen. I could do it with my Global map 2000.
