View Full Version : Water Proofing Boat Seats
After my boat has been out in the rain for awhile, my boat seats will soak in water. So after several days of being dry, you'll still be soaking up a little water when you sit on the seats. What can be applied to the seats to prevent this? I use 3M Scotchguard for the carpet. Will this be adequate for the seats as well if I just spray this on? Or is there something that would be better?
Thanks,
AWH

You might try that spray that campers use on tents or to waterproof clothing. Most camping places sell it. To be honest, I have never heard of this. Boat seats usually are made out of materials to shed water as that is the evironment in which they were intended to be used. If it was my living room chair, I could see it, but these are supposed to be made to withstand the lements. Much like patio furniture.

I use Thompson's Water Sealant on everything that may come in contact with water. My tent, boat cover, boat seats, soft tackle box, etc. You get the picture. Hope this is of some help.
