Which hole are you running your motor in for best top end and overall performance? Thanks.

Otter,
I'll have to check when I get home, but the factory installed my motor. I would assume with all their testing they fit the holes at the maximum peformance. I have no intentions of changing the position, but I'll let you know.

My 617 came from factory last year mounted in the secound to the top hole (next hole would as high as it could go). Without looking I think its the third hole. Had a 23" pitch pro series prop when I fished in Michigan and it ran about 54mph at 5300 rpm. Traded for a 21" pitch because most of the lakes I fish are 3000' above sea level. Have a 19" for above 5000'. Some time sone I will raise the motor to the top to try. Any one use a jack plate? Would like to know results.

My 150 opti came on the 3rd from the top. Still in break in mode so I haven't ran it full open for more than a split second. With a 21 Tempest it seems to want to do over 50 easily (Have been 52 speedo at almost WOT with no trimming beyond vertical).

Although, I do need to have it trimmed all the way down max when coming out of the hole fast or it feels like a may have a little cavitation or slippage.... Haven't played much with it.

mine is in the third hole from the top, works very well, its only a 115hp, runs 45-46 mph gps. I put a SE sport foil on it to get on plane faster.
