Ijust purchased a new ZX 1950 SKEETER deepwater series boat and am waiting for my new Lowrance depthfinder to come from my boat dealer.I have installed quite a few depth finders in my life and didn't foresee any problems doing it again until I was checking out the transom on my new boat.At the bottom of the transom it jogs back and down again (kind of like a reverse step). It doesn't appear to be enough room to mount it on so that it will work when on plane.Just wondering if there are any other SKEETER owner out there that have run into this and how did you mount the transducer.

I have the 1950, and have 2 transducers siliconed into inside of the hull in the bilge area. The only thing you lose is the speed wheel function. I have a photo of it if you need it.

Morning Junior, I followed Jigtugger and others advice and siliconed in my rear transducer for my X-15 that came with my new 1950 as well. The results have been great. No loss of sensitivity that I can tell, reads bottom well at high speeds and never seems to loose contact when running. I was told by a Skeeter rep NOT to use silicone but after seeing the results, I'd be hard to convince that it won't work!! Try it, you'll like it! If you don't it will be easy to remove. This can't be said for epoxy.... Good Luck, you'll love the boat. I have about 3 hours of break in left on the F200 but the livewells already smell like fish..1st tourney of the season is this weekend, can't wait it's been a long winter...See ya and email if you have any questions.. On my 1775 which has the same step transom, a small 3"X 6" poly board is screwed and marine siliconed in the step just above flush with the bottom of the boat..
Works good for mounting paddle wheels and high speed transducers for Lowrance products.
I also have 2 puck style transducers mounted inside but since the boat was used when I purchased it, the wires are just hanging hooked to nothing and I don't want to stand on my head to see what they are for but they are not being used.
I would try both if you have the puck and high speed but I have heard that the puck epoxied in is the best and then use a GPS for speed or just mount a paddle wheel and temp sensor on the transom.

I have to agree with the others. I siliconed in my ducer for my Pinpoint 7520 in the bildge area of my ZX2050 works great at all speeds. Your X15 has GPS so I wouldn't mess with a paddle wheel. You all ready have the temp sensor with the indash flasher so you should be all set.
You are gonna love this ride!!!!!!

Check to see if the dealer ordered and had Skeeter install Lowrance pucks from the factory. You may not need to do anything but find the wiring at the console area. Just my .02.
