View Full Version : Maxum 44 bow mount
OK 1 more time please on these trolling motors. Theres a maxum 44 on sale for 400$ I have a Lund 1650 rebel w/ a 50 four stroke. I'm running the engine way too much trolling. I have to go with a 12 volt system as I will have to carry my batteries home from my dock to be charged. I want to use the motor for trolling. How fast will this motor pull dypsies and In line boards? How long will a charge last(some of you already answered that for me but I threw it in anyway) What batteries ? / charger?
Thank you very much for any advice,
Jess

I don't think Maxum's have a constant on switch. You would have to keep your foot on it to keep the motor running. I'm not totally sure though as I run a Motorguide.
hmm... ok now theres another variable..

Jess,I can give you a little info, not all that your looking for though.I bought a maxxum 44 bow mount this year for my new 16'6" G3 deep v with 25 yami 4stroke.weight should be close.I don't however troll with my bow mount,so I can't tell you the speed at which it will pull.I rigged my motor with 2 batteries in the bow to extend run time. Because of size restrictions in the bow floor I went with 2 27 series stoways.160 reserve cap each I believe.Have yet to run out of power even on very windy days bass fishing all day. They do have a constant switch on them with var. speed.I bought a 3 bank minn kota 330 on board charger.Works well.If you have anymore questions let me know I'll try to help. good luck goose925
so I can set the speed on the maxum 44 foot controll where I want it and switch it for constant power.... I won't need my foot on it? Ok. I'm about to buy this motor i just need to know how fast it will pull my boat with w/ a full load... two inline boards and Dipsies out. I'd like to know I could get 2.5 -3 out of it in any conditions. Cabella could not help me and they said they called Minn Kota. I was told i'd get about 3 hours per battery with constant run time. I got a lott of advice here to go w/ a 24 volt system but I need to carry my batteries home for charging... so I'm going with a 12 volt. I'll be able to swap out 2 batteries. I know its a lott of weaght to be carrying around but I can't stand to run my engine all day. I love trolling however so I think this is my best option. I'll get a cart. Maybe I'll enploy th bulldog as well.
Thanks for any help,
Jess

Jess, i have a 16ft tracker deep v with a 50 merc on it. also a 50 pound thrust troller. My trolling motor wont last long, i mean batteries, just pulling cranks, so i got a kicker motor. a 7.5 merc. it works great for pulling boards, but i have'nt tried dipseys. think about getting a kicker. they dont burn much gas, and are perfect for trolling. even a 9.9 is good for a boat your size. check the for sale board and see if you can find one you can afford.
