Will I get the same full range from right to left like I would if I was steering by hand or do you give up a little? I am asking this because my dealer mounted mine and it looks like I lose about 2 inches of steering both to the right and left as it is set up now. Just wanted to check with some current users before I call my dealer or work on it myself. Thanks
I installed a panther steer in my boat earlier this year. We put in an honest 6-8 hours of trying everything possible to get full travel. I called Panther and found out that we should have been using a arm with a bend in it sort of z shaped. I bought the unit slightly used and did not get the arm with it. Once we had the correct connecting rod we were able to get about 95% full travel. It's critical to have the unit mounted in the right spot. Now it works great!!!!!!! If you want to give me a call some evening feel free and I will tell you what we had to do.

if the unit is placed correctly and the arm is set correctly you should get full travel or just short of full by about 1/2 inch each side.(not enough to make a difference).
hope that helps
Thanks for the info guys. I am going to play with it a little more and see if I can get some more travel out of it.

What kind of boat needs a Z shaped arm????????
In order to get full travel in my Triton 189 we had to mount the unit directly in front of the big motor. This required a z shaped arm as recommended by Panther. We tried a straight arm and many many many different mounting locations of the unit to no avail.
