we have just had an expensive G-Loomis rod bust while on a vacation. not due to any type of misuse. i know in the past a representative from this company had been keeping in touch with walleye central. can anyone put us in touch with him? or, possibly give us the right steps to replace the rod.
thanks in advance

Call G-Loomis and they will give a RA number and then send back to them. They will look at the rod and if it broke and it was defective they will replace it. If you broke I think they will replace it for something like $35.00 but i am not sure they still have that program........

I sent in a Loomis rod that had broken where the two pieces hook together. They never asked for an explanation and sent me the updated version of the rod with no charge.

You can give them a call and they will get you a return number.
If you want a new one in 2 days you can pay $50 and have one sent ups blue to your door and it's a done deal. Or you can send it back and wait for them to look at it and determine if it was misuse or defective and they'll send a new one.

I am very protective of my rods but I did borrow one to a buddy of mine who wasn't catching fish and he broke off a tip. I sent it in and they replaced it for half price around $100. I had an eye fall out of the guide and they replaced it with a new rod $227.00 value and the rod was 10 years old. Now my buddy has his own and anyone else will have better luck borrowing my wife. I had an IMX break this year, G-Loomis tried to say I stepped on the rod, in fact I did not. If they challenge you, make sure your firm if you did not misuse the rod, they will replace it.

Not the experience I have had at all.
Have broken several (IMX and GLX)...they just gave me a new rod...no questions.
I paid shipping....period.
Their customer service is super!

I have had several GLoomis rods break over the past few years no fault of the user. I have sent them back to the company and got the $35 response from them. I just broke another one last week and I took it back to Cabelas and was replaced on the spot with no questions. A good friend of mine builds great rods and he has started using St. Croux blanks ---not near as expensive and not near the problems. also DakotaMart replaces with no questions.

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys/gals break these rods? A friend of mine broke a Loomis on a hook set. I just can't believe so many of these rods are breaking.

all of the Loomis rods that I have broken have been on a hook set, the heaviest line has been #8 test. I for one am looking for replacement rods instead of replacing the Loomis all the time. So far I have tired St. Croix and Hagen both of which seem to be quality rods.

I've not had experience with the casting or spin rods. I have used the Loomis fly rods quite a bit. They have always replaced any broken rod no questions. If the other rods are anything like the fly rods the reason they break is a scratch or nick (no matter how small) in the blank near the tip. The blank is so small and thin that the fly rods broke where a poor cast caused the fly to hit the rod and the point scratched or nicked the rod blank. I've actually seen this happen first hand.
Any nick from a hook, jig, edge of the twisted wire on a bottom bouncer, anything, (even other hooks on other rods) could cause premature failure. I'm not sure if Loomis will admit this, but like I said I've seen it happen first hand. Keep them in a sock all the time when not in use. You probably shouldn't have to treat a rod with kid glove like this, but it may help eliminate some of the problems.
