I just purchased this boat. I've never owned a 4-stroke motor, so I'm wondering about maintenance. How often should I change the oil and filter?? Any other special maintenance these motors require that I'm not aware of? I usually don't winterize my boats since I fish the river almost year round. I change the lower unit oil twice a year, this should be sufficient with this motor, right?? What prop are you guys running?

I have the same boat and motor. Tha only maintainence I have done is changing the oil once a year and the lower unit lube once a year.
I have a yamaha 19" pitch prop that works good. It is the black stainless steel prop. With this prop I run at 5800 RPM's and get between 43 - 45 MPH.

Sounds like an awesome rig!! Hope you enjoy it, also do you mind me asking what you payed for it when it was all said and done? Just wondering if the price my dealer gave me was fair.
I sign the final paperwork tomorrow, pick the boat on Tuesday. Here is the low down and price:
All 2003 equipment:
Boat, motor, Karavan trailer(galvanized, swing tongue), one graph, 50lb Minn Kota, two rod holders, cover, cd player, 3 standard seats, plus some other little things I can't think of off the top of my head. The package came in just under $16,500.00.
I didn't do a lot of shopping around, so I don't know if the price is good or not. I bought from a dealer close to me, which was most important to me.
