Why are the sides not as tall on tournament boats? What is the reason for this? Most anglers have long net handles so why do they make the sides lower?
Thanks

Actually, a lot of the tournament boats which appear to have low sides really have the same height sides as a lot of other boats. The difference is that the floor has been raised inside the boat.

Basically, whether the sides are lower, or the floor higher, it is done for the simple reason, that it makes the boat much easier to fish from. With the lower sides or higher floor, it simply is easier to do virtually everything about fishing. i.e. casting, landing fish, room etc.

Less freeboard(the amount of boat out of the water) is best for better boat contol in winds. The better the boat control the easier it is to stay over the fish. Now one would think a Bass stle boat with almost no freeboard would be best but it's not. Bass boats and rough water don't mix. However rough water and walleyes do. So a deeper boat with less freboard is what most walleye anglers use.
