View Full Version : Tattle Flag retrofit
I have an older Off-Shore board I'm going to be installing a Tattle Flag on. Can anyone offer any suggestions (do's and don'ts) after retrofitting some yourselves? I don't think the board has the grooves on the leading edge (too old) and am wondering what spacing should be used to drill holes on this edge.
Thanks

I put them on my boards a year or so ago. They work good for detecting weeds or light fish. However, if you have hard pulling cranks they will pull the flag back anyway. I have seen many posts on here regarding heavier springs. I believe they are C73 springs found at most hardware stores. I am eventually gonna put them on. My uncle did and said they are better. I do like the red clips that come with the tattle flags much better than the black ones that came with the board. They are alot stronger.
I'd put at least 6 and maybe 8 evenly spaced holes, maybe 1/4" back from the leading edge. That will help, as will hooking the topof the spring around the flag pole instead of in the hole. Good luck & good fishin.
