i have an 18' fisher with the 74# 24 volt genesis and was wondering if i can increase my run time by connecting 4 6 volts together? 95% of my day fishing, usually about 8 hrs. somtimes 12 hrs., is with the electric. don't have a onboard charger connected to the big engine. just looking for some suggestions, thanks.

What kind of batteries do you have now?

I don't know if you can get 6 Volt Deep Cycle batteries, and am not sure even if you could, that would be the best option. I've heard great things about Trojan Batteries. Big, heavy, powerful, and lots of reserve. If you have room, can you put in four 12 volt batteries? You could do a parallel/series setup that way, and double your reserve.

I have 2 Remy Batteries, and can run my 65 AP all day, and still have plenty left.

thanks for the reply shep. happened to catch my next door neighbor pwt pro, tom "doc" johnson, at home and asked him about it. he told me that trojan makes a group 31 size deepcycle so i think i'm probably going to give two of those a try. he said the four 6 volts will work, i have the space, but the weight and recharge time will be a factor and a isolator/charging system off the big engine wouldn't really make much of an impact. we don't have the lake size in the states i fish that requires long drive times.
