Every year four friends and I take a walleye fishing trip. We just got back from a trip to Lake Sakakawea, and it was great. However, one of the other guys is planning next year's trip and he has suggested Roaring Stoney Lodge in Minnesota. Anyone have any experience with this place? I have never heard of it, but that doesn't mean anything. Any input on this place will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JackSalmon.

If this is the lodge that is on Birch Lake up by Ely, I would look for a better lake to fish! A group of friends and I were up there two weeks ago and were very disapointed with Birch Lake. We caught lots of 6-8 inch walleyes and only one over 20 inches. I hve no experence with that lodge but after we got back we checked the netting stats and they confirmed exactly what our results were. Lots of small fish with very few eating size. I know that we should have checked these first, but we're trying to find different lakes with fewer restrictions then our favorite boarder lake.

I was there 8 years ago and wouldn't go back. This place came recommended so I took 4 customers and regretted it. Small fish way back then and very few of them. Unless they upgraded since then, the place lacks a lot in comfort (a good tent would be preferable). Look at another lake if I were you.
