Looking to purchase a new SS prop. Heard someone mention Powertech propellers. They seem about the same price as the Mercury Tempest. Any pros or cons would be appreciated!

Thanks

I have tried both the tempest and the powertech. I decided to go with the PowerTech for a number of reasons. One is the cushion hub. When you shift into gear, there is not the "clunk" you get with the other props. Second, the lift was better. And lastly, the hole-shot, mid range accelerationa and top end were much better. I run mine on a 1900 Lund pro V with a 200 Yamaha VMax. I have the four blade, 22 pitch prop.

Jeff, can you give a little more info on why you like the Power-tech? Can you also tell me what series/model you are using.

I tried a Tempest, a Rev 4, a Raker. and an Offshore Renagade. They all were close in performance. The Tempest was the better of the 3 blades and the Renagade was the better of the 4 blades. At least they were on my hull.

I am curious if you can expound on the bow lift of the power-tech along with the rough water handiling. Any additional info would be appreciated!

I have a Powertech on order should be here next week, after looking at the test results and talking to Powertech and Steve at www.keystonepropeller.com they sounded pretty good. I ordered a TRO418 for my 115 Yamy. I will let you know the results. Also look at WWW.PTPROPS.com.

Yes it is, I put a 5 inch jackplate and I need a prop that will bite a little better, and the jackplate helped about 2 -21/2 mph and gaine abot 300rpm.
