A friend and I started using this gear lube and after running our boats and then checking the lower unit for moisture the oil had turned to a color similar to butter. Neither of the engines had any water come out. His unit was pressure tested and there was no failures.
Is it normal for this gear lube to turn colors?

Yamalube is half synthetic/fossil oil. Amsiol is 100% synthetic. The gear lube is excellent. So is YamaLube. I run amsoil in my Dodge Ram 1500. Recommeded to change filter and oil every 7500 miles. No problems yet. I switched to amsoil in my O2'Yamaha, direct and lower unit. No problems, color is similar.

When you say the color is similar are you meaning similar to the color I am describing? If that is the way it normally appears I am fine with that, just want to make sure I don't have another problem.
Thanks,
