Hello, I am traveling to Oshkosh WI. next week for a 30 yr. Amry Reunion. What are the gas prices in the area? Any suggestions on where to stop and try and fish for a couple of days on the way back to Wy?
Thanks for your help!

Joe,
Lake Winnebago is home to Oshkosh. The fishing there has been good to excellent the past couple of months. Trolling Deep Jr's in the purple colors and the Deep Little Rippers in the same hues, have been productive. On average fish are running much larger than the past few years. In the past it seemed that every fish in that lake was 13-15 inchs. Well, the 1996 year class is now in prime condition. They run in the 18-22 inch range. There also seems to be plenty of them!

Jigging, livebait rigging, and slip bobbering the reefs has been procutive too.

Gas prices are anywhere from 1.39-1.43 right now. They seem to keep going lower too. I'm not sure how long that will keep up though.

There are a lot of launches in Oshkosh. I can recommend Rainbow Park. It's on the Fox River, and when you launch you can go East to Lake Winnebago, or West to Lakes Butte de Morts, Winneconnie, and Poygan, or you can fish the river. The river often holds some big fish.

To get to Rainbow Park, which by the way is a decent launch, take Hwy 41 to 21 (Omro). Take 21 East to the first left before the bridge. You will be one block West of the Park at this time. Take any right to get to the road in front of the park. You will see where to go from there.

Have fun at your reunion, and enjoy the great fishing Bago is offering us all this year!

If you come through Minnesota on I94 get gas in Fergus Falls. We just went to $1.20 a few days ago.
